Bar Mitzvah Coaching & The Yiddish Language

Air Date: July 15, 2012

Guests: Ardie Wandel, Roz Kirkel

Topics: In the early 1960s, as the request of Rabbi Samuel Adelman, z”l, Ardie Wandel began helping Denver’s young boys prepare for their Bar Mitzvahs.  To be a son or daughter of the commandments, in Ardie’s view, is actually a life-long process – not a one-day event. Ardie shares with us highlights of his 50-year career as a molder of young boys and girls (as well as adults) and explores the history and evolution of the Bnai Mitzvah ceremonies.

Lomir Redn Yiddish – Let’s Speak Yiddish.  Both the language and culture of Yiddish are enriching the lives of many Denver-area families.  Hear Rosalyn “Reyzele” Kirkel, a talented storyteller, explore the beauty of Yiddish and its significance in modern America.  Roz heads the bimonthly Lomir Redn Yiddishgroup that meets at the JCC.
